The SCA Q Grader course is one of the most exciting and rewarding challenges in coffee education. It is also fast-paced, sensory-heavy, and full of moments where confidence matters just as much as knowledge.
That is exactly why we created Q Grader Accelerator.
This four-day preparation course gives you dedicated time to practice some of the most demanding Q Grader exam areas before you are actually under exam pressure.
You will taste, smell, compare, grade, make decisions, make mistakes, try again, and get coached through the process until the exercises start to feel familiar.
When you meet these exercises during your SCA Q Grader course, you have already been there before.
And that changes everything.
Four days. Four critical skill areas.
Day 1 — Green Coffee Grading
Get comfortable identifying defects, grading samples, and building a clear, repeatable approach to green coffee evaluation.
Day 2 — Olfactory & Roast Identification
Train your nose, sharpen aroma recognition, and practice distinguishing roast characteristics with more speed and confidence.
Day 3 — Triangulation
One of the most famous Q Grader challenges. We practice it repeatedly, work on strategy and sensory focus, and help you learn how to trust what you are tasting when the differences become subtle.
Day 4 — Taste Modalities
Sweet, sour, salty, and concentration differences sound simple until you are under pressure. We train recognition, calibration, and the ability to commit to your answer with confidence.
Why did we design Q Grader Accelerator
After delivering more than 60 Q Grader courses over the past 15 years, we have seen the same thing again and again.
Most candidates do not need more theory, they need practice.
They need time to repeat the exercises, understand where they hesitate, ask questions, calibrate their senses, and build confidence before the intensity of the SCA Q Grader course begins.
During Q Grader itself, everything moves quickly. There is limited time to slow down and spend an entire morning practicing one specific skill.
Q Grader Accelerator gives you that space.
This is where you can repeat the exercise until something that initially felt intimidating starts to feel completely manageable.
Important: this is preparation, not certification
Q Grader Accelerator is not an SCA Q Grader certification course, and completing it does not award a Q Grader certificate.
This course has one purpose: to prepare you for success in the SCA Q Grader course.
The value is in the practice, coaching, sensory development, and confidence you take with you into Q Grader.
Focused training with plenty of energy left.
Q Grader Accelerator runs only until approximately 2:00 PM each day. That is intentional.
You get several hours of focused sensory training without exhausting your palate before the SCA Q Grader course. Work hard in the morning, recover in the afternoon, and come back fresh the next day.
Expect plenty of tasting, smelling, comparing, guessing, getting fooled by a triangulation, trying again — and watching difficult exercises become easier.
This is preparation for an exam, but it should also be one of the most enjoyable weeks you spend training your senses.
