The perfect workshop for roasters looking for a refresher on roast profiles or new roasters just starting out. This four hour workshop includes the basic elements of a roast profile, tools for data logging, analysis of profiles, and techniques for continued learning. You will also learn several techniques to apply when approaching a new coffee for the first time!

The SCA Cupping form can be intimidating. In this class we demystify the form and the process. You will learn how to approach each category on the form, gain an understanding of the relationship between intensity and scoring, and learn how cuppers and Q graders account for faults, taints, and defects while scoring coffee.

Take your cupping and tasting skills to the next level! Compare scores and descriptive characteristics of the same coffees with a cohort of learners. Students receive a “tasting kit” of coffees before the start of the webinar. We have identified ideal WCR Sensory Lexicon references, selected dynamic coffee samples, and prepared protocols which are easy to apply from your kitchen or office.

Sustainability from seed to cup is essential for a healthy coffee business. You will learn about the pillars of sustainability; review case studies of sustainability initiatives in cafes, at farms, and at various steps of coffee in between. Students will develop their own sustainability initiative to present and implement at their own companies.


How it Works

After you register, your instructor will send you an email with detailed instructions about getting setup with Zoom Conference and any other platforms for your course and an invitation to join a WhatsApp or Slack group for your cohort of students.


The same email will contain digital downloads of the course handbook and any worksheets, roasting and tasting logs, cupping forms, and other materials.


On the day of your course please be prepared to login to the eLearning session via Zoom 15 minutes prior to the start of the session.


At the specified start time our instructor will host  the eLearning session. These courses are just like the lectures, discussions, and group assignments you may have experienced at other trainings – just remote.


After the workshop concludes, your instructor will provide you with a number of activities to practice the concepts covered for your continued learning and professional development.


Following the course be sure to take advantage of one on one coaching sessions with your instructor.
