Take your cupping and tasting skills to the next level! Compare scores and descriptive characteristics of the same coffees with a cohort of learners. Students receive a “tasting kit” of coffees before the start of the webinar. We have identified ideal WCR Sensory Lexicon references, selected dynamic coffee samples, and prepared protocols which are easy to apply from your kitchen or office.

Your instructor Marcus Young has nearly 20 years experience as a coffee taster and trainer. Spending time at the cupping table is one of his greatest joys. In this course Marcus makes cupping accessible, demystifies the protocols, and provides a supportive environment that recognizes each student’s unique experiences and approaches to describing coffees.
Please register at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the course so Boot Coffee Campus has ample time to prepare and ship tasting kits to students. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
During a multi-day webinar, students will use the provided tasting kit and lectures, discussions, and hands-on exercises to increase their tasting confidence and ability to describe coffees!
Students outside of the US will be responsible for any custom or duty charges that your specific country charges.
Participants build a library of “quality control” tests. Learn cupping standards and protocols, explore the coffee taster’s flavor wheel, and review alternative cupping forms designed for descriptive analysis. You will also gain quality control techniques including triangle testing and ways to incorporate production cuppings into your business.
This is a perfect course for roasters, coffee producers, those planning to take the Q Grader exam, and others looking to advance their knowledge of this important aspect of specialty coffee.
After registering, your instructor will send you an email with detailed instructions about getting setup with Zoom Conference and invite you to the virtual group for your cohort of students.
The same email will contain digital downloads of the course handbook and any worksheets, spreadsheets, planning tools, and other materials.
At least one week prior to the course you will receive your tasting kit in the mail with coffee samples, lexicon references, and other materials. BEFORE THE FIRST WEBINAR DATE THERE are samples you are expected to have already tasted.
On Day 1 of your course please be prepared to login to the eLearning session via Zoom 10 minutes prior to the start of the session.
At the specified start time our instructor will host the eLearning session covering topics relevant to that week’s hands-on assignments. These sessions are just like the lectures, discussions, and group assignments you may have experienced at other trainings – just remote.
You will work on the hands-on activities at our own facility. Because we are working remotely, it’s vital that you keep good notes and document your experiences.
Reconvene for the next eLearning session at the appointed time. We will review the hands-on activities, analyze the results as a group, and cover new materials in preparation for the next hands-on assignments.
During the course take advantage of one on one coaching sessions with your instructor.
When you complete the course you will receive a CoffeeCampus.com certificate of completion, an invitation to join the Boot Coffee Campus Alumni page on Facebook, and are eligible for discounts on future CoffeeCampus.com and Boot Coffee Campus courses.
