You can have great coffee, great equipment, and still end up with a disappointing cup. Brewing is where all the work done at the farm and roastery either comes together or falls apart. In the SCA Brewing Foundations Course, you’ll learn how to control the variables that actually shape the cup: grind size, coffee-to-water ratio, brew time, water, agitation, and extraction. You’ll taste what happens when those variables change and learn how to recognize what went wrong. Coffee too weak? Too strong? Bitter? Hollow? Flat? Instead of changing things randomly, you’ll know which lever to pull and why. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to build better recipes, troubleshoot bad brews, and make consistently better coffee across different manual brewing methods. Good brewing is not about memorizing a recipe. It is about understanding what makes the recipe work
