Staying at Bekele’s Blessing in Aleta Wondo – Sidama, is always a highlight during any visit to Ethiopia. Right before leaving the community development program I was offered a small coffee tree to be replanted in front of the roundhouses where we stayed.
Besides the school buildings, cantina, kitchen and guest facilities, the site harbors coffee trees, corn, moringa plantings, passion fruit trees, bananas and some of the finest cows!
At night you might be able to see the hyenas which regularly show up to check of there’s anything to eat. They are quite harmless and keep a safe distance from the guests.

It must’ve been a very nice experience to plant a coffee tree on your own!
