Yes. After you pass the required assessments, you’ll earn an internationally recognized certificate from the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) for the roasting level you’ve completed. Foundation, Intermediate, and Professional each have their own certificate within the SCA Coffee Skills Program.

Can I take SCA Barista Skills Foundation and Intermediate together?

Yes. Book SCA Barista Skills Foundation and Intermediate together and save $500. We recommend starting with Foundation to build your espresso preparation, grinder adjustment, and milk steaming skills. Intermediate builds directly on those techniques with more detailed tasting, troubleshooting, latte art, and café workflow practice.

Do I need barista experience to take the SCA Barista Skills Intermediate course?

You should already understand basic espresso preparation, grinder adjustment, and milk steaming. SCA recommends Foundation-level learning before Intermediate, although Foundation is not a mandatory prerequisite. If you’re a beginner or want to strengthen your basics, we recommend taking Foundation and Intermediate together.

What exams do I need to pass to earn the SCA Barista Skills Intermediate certificate?

SCA Barista Skills Foundation requires only a knowledge exam, which you complete online off campus. SCA Barista Skills Intermediate requires both a knowledge exam and a practical exam. The practical exam assesses your grinder calibration, espresso preparation, latte art, and drink preparation skills.
