Join us once a month for an journey into the art and science of coffee roasting. This isn't just any regular meetup; it's an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of coffee, refining your roasting techniques alongside fellow enthusiasts and experienced trainers.

Can I come if I never roasted before?

Yes, please indicate it in the comments to the order, but please note for you this is goin gto be more a demonstration of roasting. We would strongly recommend one of our roasting courses before you come. Except the fact that you gain some some theory and practice, as a former student you can come to these session using your 50% off discount.

Is there a trainer to help me?

Yes, Valerian will be available as your coffee roasting coach.

How long is the gathering?

This is a half day (4hours) plus 1h for preheating and after roasting cleaning session.

If you come for the SCA Intermediate Practice and exams, for you this is a full day session.

How many people per roaster?

2 people per roaster max, unless you are a group and want to share one specific roaster.

Can I select a roasted in advance?

You can request a specific roaster and we will do the best to put you on it, but people taking the SCA Roasting Intermediate exam have the priority of choice.

Is green coffee included?

Can I bring my own coffee?

Can I use the other lab equipment at Boot Coffee?

Valerian Hrala is an incredible instructor/teacher/mentor. Not only did we spend 3 days talking roast theory, practical roasting exercises, triangulation of different roasts, tasting etc. but having 2 additional days to talk not only about opening a business in roasting, but a coffee business in general was priceless.  Valerian, having 2 of his own roasting businesses since 2001, brings real world knowledge, marketing strategies, brand strategies, sales strategies, a fantastic calculator; I could go on and on, but I would hate to ruin all the surprises for a new student.  This class was not only loads of fun, but a real eye-opener as far as all the information you leave with.  All in all, 5 stars do not do this course justice!!!! It gave me the basics I needed to create an espresso and steam my milk. It also, made me want to continue learning about espresso and coffee in general by taking more classes. Willem and Valerian happily attended to my questions even during a busy day and gave me a sneak peek into what the courses might look like. I signed up for their 'Intro to coffee' class and it was super extensive with detailed info of each step from seed to cup. Both Valerian and Dan are passionate, coffee-experts and fantastic teachers. The courses are very hands on and engaging. Both instructors also tailored course objectives to meet the goals of the students in the class. Valerian was so knowledgeable and gave us so much of his time to answer business and coffee related questions we had. We got to roast all 3 afternoon and feel like we left with so much useful information.
The teaching was professional whilst being personable, it was awesome to share our passion for coffee with other likeminded people. We wish we can be back in the near future for more learning, as well as tasting some more chocolate & wine ;)

REFUND POLICY

Please note. The course have limited seats and often sells out therefore canceling the course would mean preventing other students from attending.

You can cancel or reschedule 60 days before the course for free.

After this period you can reschedule or get a refund minus 20% free of the cost of the purchased course up to 14 days before the course when rescheduling or cancellations are not possible.

EXCEPTION: If you test positive for COVID 19 at any time before or during the course, we will reschedule you for FREE. We will require an official PCR test to do so. Sorry. No home tests, or rapid tests are accepted, only a PCR test will do. If you test positive during the course at our lab no PCR is required.

Where is the coffee training center?

The course will be at the BOOT COFFEE CAMPUS at 619 Lindaro Street, San Rafael, CA (just north of San Francisco).

When does the coffee roasting course start?

Our courses typically begin at 9 am each morning and finish each day between 5 and 7 pm depending on the progress of students in each course.

Is lunch included?
